아침부터 밤까지 딸기를 따던 그곳은 어린 소녀에게 하나의 거대한 우주였습니다. 넝쿨 사이에서 만난 무당벌레와 벌, 하얀 나비들은 외로웠던 어린 나를 있는 그대로 받아준 가장 다정한 친구들이었습니다.

The strawberry field where I picked berries from morning to night was an entire universe to a small girl. The ladybugs, bees and white butterflies among the vines were the most tender friends, accepting my lonely younger self just as I was.

사춘기를 지나던 거제도의 작은 마을, 그곳에서 바라보던 섬과 바다, 바람과 물안개, 그리고 슬픔이 깊어질 때마다 말없이 나를 감싸주던 달빛의 기억은 지금도 제 그림의 가장 깊은 곳에 머물러 있습니다.

In a small village on Geoje Island, the islands and sea, the wind and fog, and the moonlight that quietly held me whenever sorrow deepened — those memories still live at the deepest layer of my paintings.

제 그림 속 딸기는 그 시절의 시간과 감정, 외로움 속에서도 꺼지지 않았던 온기의 기억입니다. 그 온기가 캔버스를 넘어 당신에게도 전해지기를 바랍니다.

The strawberries in my work are memories of that time and its warmth — a warmth that never went out, even in loneliness. I hope it reaches beyond the canvas, to you.
